Director of Asset Management

Full-Time in San Francisco, CA - Senior - Asset Management

Renewable Properties is seeking to bring on an experienced and talented Director of Asset Management to be responsible for the Company’s Asset Management function. The candidate will be responsible for leading the Asset Management team as well as managing the Company’s portfolio of solar assets to maximize production, optimize financial performance, and deliver results in-line with the company’s project plans.

A successful candidate will have experience across a wide-ranging set of asset management disciplines, managing numerous tasks at once and prioritizing them, accordingly. We are seeking a thorough, results-focused problem-solver who can evaluate issues from both a financial and an operational perspective employing a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving. This is a full-time role based in San Francisco, CA, and is open to remote work.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Asset Management Function. Build a results-driven culture that strives for high performance. Manage the team and third-party resources on a day-to-day basis.
  • Serve as a trusted voice to the executive team, providing focused updates on project and team initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain financial and operational reporting to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage outside O&M providers and other key third-party service providers in connection with a range of operational, maintenance, financial and other matters.
  • Lead and support staff responsible for compliance with project and partnership agreements, ensuring that all obligations and interests are successfully administered within Asset Management or other teams.
  • Manage commercial issues and associated strategies to resolution with counterparties, including mediation or litigation.
  • Lead and support staff to negotiate or amend contracts to improve asset performance and mitigate risk.
  • Lead hand-off from development and construction teams to asset management.
  • Develop and execute best practices and procedures for project commercial readiness and integration into back-office functions. Support corporate initiatives to strengthen company processes and systems.
  • Lead an asset-driven feedback loop process within RP, coordinating issues review and resolution across development, engineering, construction, project financing and other departments as necessary.
  • Lead project budgeting, ensuring that budgets developed with prudent assumptions for revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Advance strategies to improve operational and financial performance and protect long-term value.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support plant optimization and performance improvement, warranty claims, insurance claims, and revenue recovery.
  • Initiate and support operational and revenue enhancement proposals.
  • Maintain organizational focus on first year project performance metrics and advance revenue or cost-focused strategies where necessary to minimize economic shortfalls.
  • Support corporate transactions from an asset management perspective, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and partnership arrangements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field MBA or CPA is highly desirable.
  • 10 years of energy industry experience in a project development, project administration, business administration, project management, asset management, contract administration, deal execution, project finance or other commercial roles.
  • Prior experience building a team and establishing processes and systems to support high growth activities.
  • Experience working in the renewable energy industry is required.
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and efficient.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate viewpoints (written and verbal) in a clear, persuasive, and succinct manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple parallel efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a growth mindset and passion for leadership and people management.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of renewable financial models and the full capital structure (tax equity, debt, and equity).
  • Ability to read complex agreements to analyze and identify obligations and risk.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
